Wanaka and Local Information

Wanaka – Life the way it is meant to be.

Wanaka and Queenstown Holiday Activities and Local Information

The mountains, river and lakes combined with a dry Central Otago climate has meant that Wanaka –  just north of the 45th parallel – has been a popular holiday spot for generations of New Zealand families away from the bustle of its more commercial counterpart of Queenstown just over the hill. As a base for a huge range of outdoor activities and with the recent growth in the local wine industry Wanaka has grown into a true four season resort while still retaining a laidback atmosphere.

Gerald’s partner in the business, Sue Telford, has over 20 years working in the tourism industry and  has customised itineraries for a number of their clients, both during their stay and on the rest of their travels in the country. In fact, by the end of the holiday, many of the ‘hunting and fishing widows’ have enjoyed themselves so much, they’re not sure who the trip was for in the first place!

‘I want to thank you for a wonderful time.  The time that you spent with Tina and me, taking us to all the wonderful artist shops and the hikes and the Big Screen was a great time.

Thanks also for all your help in getting our tour routed.  We had wonderful accommodations.  It is hard to choose the best one, but mine was the Classic Villa in Christchurch, mostly because it had our year numbers for the code and that it was a beautiful step back in time.  The whirl pool tub in Fox Glacier was a bonus and I took advantage of it.

Your flight to lake Te Anau was a wonderful experience and your side trip for Dick was so appreciated by both of us.

Thanks again for such a wonderful time and Dick is talking about coming back to fish.

Give the girls a GREAT BIG HUG for us. Take care’,
